Stay at The Walking Hub and learn to Nordic Walk with Ali. Includes a 2 night stay, breakfasts, an evening meal, 4 hours of Nordic Walking instruction and use of poles. Minimum 2 people with groups of up to 6.
Basic itinerary as below but can be individualised as desired.
Arrive in Kington and if you’ve come by car you can park for free in the town car park. Depending on time of arrival (check in after 4pm) you might want to get settled into The Walking Hub with a cup of tea and cake or head to one of the pubs for a pint before enjoying a heart-warming veggie chilli supper from The Walking Hub kitchen.
Begin the day with a Walking Hub power breakfast. Then down to The Walking Hub shop to get kitted out with some Nordic poles before heading to the park for a couple of hours of Nordic Walking instruction. During this session Ali will teach you all about Nordic Walking, the health benefits and the INWA (International Nordic Walking Association) 10-step technique. After this you’re free to explore Kington with or without poles! Ali can suggest a local walk for the afternoon or you may want to head to Hergest Croft to explore the amazing 70-acre garden, full of rare plants and champion trees and to have lunch in their fantastic tea room. In the evening you might like to visit The Stagg in Titley for a fine dining experience. For good food but a little more rustic, The Harp Inn is a lovely old Welsh long house atop a hill with spectacular views over The Vale of Radnorshire. Or simply grab some fish and chips from Kington’s finest chippie.
Get ready to test your newly acquired Nordic Walking skills and join Ali for a Nordic Walk up Hergest Ridge. Basic package includes a 2 hour walk (about 4 miles) but this can be extended if desired and will be tailored to your needs and ability. On this gentle incline up the ridge you'll really get to feel the benefits of Nordic Walking and also be rewarded with breath-taking views in all directions, from the Black mountains and Brecon Beacons, to the Shropshire Hills and Malverns. Once back in Kington and having worked up a healthy appetite you may be ready for a bite to eat in one of Kington's many pubs before heading home. Or you might consider extending your stay (see B&B for nightly rates).
