From Boots to Books – An Evening with Julie Brominicks.

From Boots to Books – An Evening with Julie Brominicks.

Join us next Friday, 16 October, at 5pm at the Barefoot Shoe Box for a very special talk with author, traveller and friend Julie Brominicks.

I first met Julie when she came to stay at The Walking Hub while researching a piece on the Mortimer Trail for BBC Countryfile Magazine. She's a wonderful writer, with a real passion for walking, exploring and connecting with the landscapes and people she encounters along the way.

Julie is the author of The Edge of Cymru and her latest book, Cader Idris: Let the Mountain Speak. She travels entirely without a car or flying, and has a rather unconventional approach to exploring and writing about places.

From Boots to Books – Experience first, research second

Julie prefers to travel without a phone or guidebook, immersing herself in a place before researching its history, culture and stories. Whether she's exploring a mountain, meeting people or discovering a new landscape, it's this curiosity and openness to experience that makes her writing so special.

She'll be sharing stories from her travels and talking about how her journeys find their way onto the page.

It's a subject very close to our hearts here at the Barefoot Shoe Box – getting out into the world, travelling a little differently and discovering what happens when we really pay attention to our surroundings.
