ABOUT THE WALKING HUB...
Hello,
This is me (Ali) and my dog (Roo) and we are the proud owners of The Walking Hub.
I’ve always loved the outdoors. Growing up in London we spent family holidays walking in Wales which eventually grew into mountaineering and climbing. I’ve spent most of my adult life living in the USA working as a nurse and playing in the mountains.
A few years ago I returned to this country and to cut a long story short bought a flat on Kington High Street, which lucky me, came with a shop below :-) Realising I had landed in the middle of a walking town in one of the most beautiful and remote parts of this country I quickly opened my flat up to walkers as a B&B and the shop below to sell walking gear. The Walking Hub was born. This little business is now my life and to be honest I couldn’t be happier. When we’re not out on the hills ourselves we’re still lucky enough to share our lives with other walkers (people like YOU!).
Hope to see you soon,
Ali & Roo x

The Walking Hub is proud to call Kington ‘home’ and is aptly located in the centre of its historic high street. Barely in England but not quite in Wales, situated on the border and to the west of Offa’s Dyke it was probably once Welsh, but Kington is now Herefordhsire’s smallest and most westerly market town. It was once a thriving wool trading town on a busy drovers route, their legacy left as a network of paths that weave through, start or finish here. Offa’s Dyke National trail winds its way over Hergest ridge (made famous by Mike Oldfield of Tubular Bells fame) into Kington before setting off again up Bradnor Hill towards Knighton. It’s not suprising that Kington has called itself “A Centre for Walking”.
Kington is yet to be discovered and has remained wonderfully traditional, a hidden gem amongst Herefordshire’s apple orchards and a gateway to the mystical hills of Wales.
Kington Walking Festival
Kington has two very popular walking festivals in Spring and Autumn scheduled for 19th-21st April and 19th-22nd September 2024
Walkers are Welcome Town
Kington has been a Walkers are Welcome town since 2011. Walkers are Welcome is a U.K. wide, community led network of accredited towns whose purpose is to develop and promote walking in areas with something different to offer.
