Yippee! Finally a minimalist sandal for a true bare foot feel. The Freet Zennor is new this year and is intended to be worn as a multi activity shoe for both trail and water. It feels super comfortable to wear and has a really clever adjustable heel strap which makes it easy to put on and an elastic lace to make it fit like a glove. It's vegan, fully flexible with Freet's signature roomy toe box. This sandal is generous in size compared to other Freet models. We recommend you buy your actual size.
Freet Sizing & Fit
Freet are one of our favourite brands for comfort, practicality, and generous natural foot shape.
They are particularly well suited to people looking for a wide, square toe box, giving your toes plenty of room to spread naturally. This makes them an excellent option for many foot types, but especially for those with:
- Wide feet
- Bunions
- Higher volume feet
- Higher arches / high insteps
Freet shoes are often incredibly comfortable straight out of the box and are a popular choice for both everyday wear and outdoor adventures.
In general, Freet tend to fit smaller than conventional shoes and often slightly smaller than some other barefoot brands, so we strongly recommend measuring your feet carefully and checking the specific size guide before purchasing.
All Freet shoes are unisex, meaning the fit shape remains the same across the range, regardless of how sizing may be labelled.
Sizing guide
We always recommend measuring your feet using our Foot Measurement Guide before comparing your measurements to the Freet size chart.
For walking shoes and boots, we generally recommend allowing at least 10mm (1cm — roughly a thumbnail’s width) of extra space at the end of the shoe.
This is important because:
- Your feet naturally move forward when walking downhill
- Extra space helps prevent your toes from repeatedly hitting the front of the shoe
- It reduces the risk of discomfort, bruising, or losing toenails on longer walks
- Feet naturally swell during long days on your feet or in warmer weather
For everyday lifestyle shoes, you may be able to wear slightly less space, but it’s still important to allow room for natural foot movement and swelling.
Many of us have been taught that shoes should fit perfectly to the end of the foot — but in barefoot footwear, space is essential.
Don’t sacrifice on length — your feet will thank you.
Unisex Sizing Guide

How should they feel?
Freet shoes should feel secure around the midfoot and heel while allowing plenty of space at the front for your toes.
Your toes should have room to:
- Spread naturally
- Wiggle comfortably
- Move without pressure on the sides
They should not feel tight, restrictive, or squash your toes.
Because Freet have a particularly roomy forefoot, some people new to barefoot shoes may initially feel they look or feel larger than expected — this is completely normal and often simply reflects how different truly foot-shaped shoes are from conventional footwear.
If you have a lower volume foot, lacing adjustments or an additional insole can often help improve fit.
Model specific notes
While Freet shoes follow a broadly similar fit shape across the brand, individual models can feel quite different depending on materials and construction.
Leather models:
- Will soften over time
- May stretch slightly
- Often mould beautifully to your foot shape
Lined or insulated models:
- Can feel snugger initially
- May fit slightly smaller than unlined versions
Waterproof or winter models:
- May feel firmer at first
- Can have reduced internal volume due to additional layers
For this reason, checking model-specific guidance where available is always helpful.
New to barefoot?
Freet can be an excellent transition brand thanks to their generous fit, comfortable uppers, and practical designs.
However, if you are new to barefoot footwear, remember:
- Zero drop may feel unusual at first
- Your feet may need time to strengthen
- A wider toe box can initially feel unfamiliar
Taking your transition gradually is often the best approach.
Some customers prefer to begin with:
- Shorter wear periods
- Everyday walking
- Slightly more structured models initially
