Ali has always considered performance nutrition for elite athletes only and has never really fancied eating gels instead of real food but after experiencing "hitting the wall" while training for The Walking Hub Mortimer Challenge she now recognises proper nutrition and hydration as essential. They really do make a massive difference delivering immediate energy to your body and they actually taste pretty good :) Not only for running or intense exercise but also useful for walkers who just want to cut down on weight and perhaps substitute a more bulky picnic lunch for a quick and nutritious energy chew, gel or flapjack.
The hub has decided to stock TORQ products based on their philosophy, integrity and background in fitness consultancy. They manufacture their products in the UK (a rare find these days!) using organic, vegan products and recyclable packaging. This is what they say:
We are research-driven and this is key to our philosophy. We don’t fund research, we review, absorb and learn from it, then take on board the detail and use it to formulate better, higher functioning products than anyone else. We use the purest potent natural ingredients to achieve our goals. Where possible, our products are certified Organic by the Soil Association, or carry the Fairtrade mark, providing farmers in developing countries a fair price for their produce.
We don’t use chemical sweeteners, colours or artificial flavours, yet we work meticulously to deliver the finest natural flavour profiles available in any food product, let alone the niche sector TORQ is represented in. From product function, through to usability, flavour and packaging quality and design, we accept absolutely no compromise and always strive for perfection.
