Wyche Way Guide Book

PRODUCT DETAILS

The Wyche Way is a stunning 80-mile long-distance walking trail launched in 2015, connecting two iconic national trails: Offa’s Dyke Path and the Cotswold Way. Beginning here in Kington, Herefordshire—near the Welsh border—the route winds through breathtaking countryside, including the dramatic Malvern Hills, before culminating at the historic Broadway Tower in the Cotswolds.

Created by seasoned trail developer Guy Vowles (also behind the Palladian Way and Ross Round), The Wyche Way blends scenic walking with a touch of history. The name draws from the medieval “Saltway” route over the Malvern Hills, once used to transport salt from Droitwich to South Wales. It also hints at exploration—“Which Way?”—and nods to local heritage in the area of Kington known as “The Wych.”

Divided into seven manageable stages (17–21 km each), the route takes walkers through quaint Herefordshire villages with traditional black-and-white timbered houses, past cider orchards, over the Malvern Hills’ soaring peaks, and across the fertile Vale of Evesham. Key stopovers include Weobley, Bodenham, Bishops Frome, Great Malvern, Upton upon Severn, Ashton under Hill, and Broadway Tower. Many stages are accessible by public transport, making it easy to plan flexible walking trips.

The Wyche Way is perfect for adventurers seeking a diverse walking experience rich in history, landscape, and local charm.
