Altra's roots began in a sports shop in Utah, USA where 2 passionate runners with a background in biomechanics started investigating ways to help customers reduce common running overuse injuries and run more efficiently. These prototypes became the first 'Altra' shoes (based on the Latin word 'altera', which means to fix or mend something that is broken) and the creation of their unique  'Footshape' and 'ZeroDrop' design.  

They also named all their shoes after the peaks in Utah, which is super cool because Ali (owner of The Walking hub) has lived here and climbed many of these peaks! But frankly whether you are wanting a light weight walking shoe/boot or a trail running shoe you won't find anything better when it comes to comfort and performance.
